Colas 70809 out again today bound for Truro with the Railvac. Usually this travels at night to the place where it will be working but today it is just being delivered and will remain at Truro. The locomotive is returning light engine to Westbury, booked to pass Dawlish at 4.01pm. The suction end with the operator’s driving cab is usually hidden behind the locomotive when it passes Dawlish. The Railvac has it’s own independent motor to move about the worksite and can be controlled from the cab or by a wireless handset. It has the capacity to hold spent ballast itself but for larger quantities it can discharge into road tipper lorries if rail tipper wagons are not practical on the worksite.
