Another close call for Nick Campbell on Teignmouth station last night when he was recording Tamper DR 75406 with the onrushing Paddington-Plymouth express approaching in the opposite direction not coming a moment too soon! This morning the National Rail test train was making its normal monthly trip to Paignton via Penzance and a little later Colas 66849 “Wylam Dilly” was returning to it’s Westbury base after spending a few days in Cornwall, presumably crew training. The original  “Wylam Dilly” is the 2nd oldest surviving locomotive in the world and is an exhibit at the National museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. It was built  circa1815 with a few modifications to the oldest, that being “Puffing Billy”.
