After a miserable wet morning the sun came out at lunchtime to illuminate the scene for today’s two freight trains. Colas 70810 passed with the returning empty cement tanks en route to South Wales and later saw DB Cargo 66133 with the first part of the weekly clay train which would eventually go up to the Midlands. Finally on the video the locomotive can be seen running back light engine to St. Blazey in Cornwall to collect the second part of the load.

There was to have been a steam hauled Cathedrals Express to Kingswear this coming Tuesday but this has been cancelled. The reason given is that the locomotive Southern Region rebuilt Bullied 34046 is unavailable. That loco was also due to haul another Cathedrals Express on Saturday 14th October but has been replaced by LMS 46100 Royal Scot and is the last steam trip to pass through Dawlish this year.
