Tomorrow there is another Torbay & Dartmouth Explorer excursion, this time from Reading to Kingswear for Dartmouth. Unfortunately not as exciting as the previous one which was hauled by two Heritage Class 50 locomotives. This time it is powered by a Class 67 though to be fair the class are something of a rarity to be seen along the Dawlish sea wall these days. Maybe it will be one of the dedicated Royal train loco’s or the silver livery Diamond Jubilee one. The three pictures that accompany this article were taken back in 2004 when Virgin ran some loco hauled summer Saturday cross country services to supplement the normal HST ones. You may notice that they show the old station footbridge and the dip in the level of the sea wall.
Times for the special through Dawlish are 11.45am and the return is at 5.22pm
