Dawlish Library was the venue for a very interesting evening presentation by this renowned railway artist whose paintings and books are very popular with all railway lovers. Philip illustrated his talk with the aid of a slide presentation showing how his paintings are built up from a pencil sketch to the finished article using oil paint on canvas. It was amazing to hear of all the background work that goes into his paintings with site visits and photographs to the pencil sketches before commencing with the painting. Even then, frequently alterations are made once the actual painting has started to fulfil the changing wishes of his customers who have commissioned the work. Congratulations to the Friends of Dawlish library who organised the evening.
