Today saw the regular pair  on the Rail Head Treatment train with 66127 leading and 66027 on the rear getting ever dirtier as the time goes on.

However in the opposite direction a nice clean Colas 70803  was returning a Rail-Vac to Westbury from the Tavistock Junction sidings at Plympton.

Steam trains for 2018.

Not a lot advertised as yet I’m afraid. We have been missed out from the 2018 Great Britain X1 tour of Britain that takes place in April. The first steam special isn’t until June 3rd with the Torbay Express service from Bristol to Kingswear. The very popular Southern region Merchant Navy class  35028 Clan Line is booked to head the first four expresses and the last two are in September when Streamlined A4 60009 Union of South Africa will be the locomotive in charge. This engine is planned to leave main line running in 2019 and be a museum piece in Scotland so this looks like the last time we shall see this wonderful engine in steam and in Devon.
